Hello and thanks for adding me to your forum as a new member! My wife and I are in the process of acquiring some furniture for a new house. One piece we recently bought at an auction has me intrigued ... I'd like to know more about it but I've had difficulty identifying it. It appears to me to be a "side-by-side" Secretary Desk. I believe it to be Mahogany with hand inlays. I'd like to know as much about it as I can, but so far haven't been able to come up with much.
I'm also missing 3 of the 4 lock mechanisms, which are half-mortised into the cabinet doors...so I'm on the search for replacements. So far, unfortunately, all obvious sources of restoration hardware have not had these locks with the keyhole in the correct location (dead center on the two main doors with lock being 3"L x 1 7/8"W x 9/16"T).
I'm attaching pictures if anyone can help I'd be most appreciative!
I don't recognize that form - has a European feel to it, though. Lock replacement may be difficult...try these guys and if they can't help perhaps they can send you to someone who can.

Thanks for the advice I'll see if they can point me to what I need...I didn't see exactly what I need on their website. I've been told that the desk is an 1880's Victorian.
Give Horton Brass a call, they are a family business in CT and very friendly on the phone - they may can steer you in the right direction. You may have to have those brasses custom made as well. If so. these guys can do it - and it won't be cheap. They do some of the finest small brass work in the USA if not THE finest.

Thanks again for the leads. I have called and talked to Horton Brass, they were very nice and wanted to help...but couldn't. So, I have a call into ballandball...they also were helpful and, as you indicated, suggested that they could do them as custom. I'm waiting for a call back from them on that subject.
