Hi everyone. I am considering purchasing this vintage Kittinger desk and I'm wondering what you think of the price. The seller is listing it in "very good to excellent condition," for $985. Yea or Nay?
Yea.
Would cost you $ 4K to replicate that as a new one.

Thanks, Duane. It's perfect for my little study, and I love its contours and color. Just hoping the seller gets back to me soon.
Update: I bought it! I searched google for 30 pages and found only one other--for almost $4,000. So, needless to say, I am exceedingly thrilled.

I so enjoy looking at the high-end pieces on this site--from Emirzian and others--but they are way out of my league, price-wise, so I have to be a bit resourceful to find good quality at a price that isn't entirely out of reach. And you are so incredibly helpful, Duane, in that process. Thank you so much.
What a beautiful desk. Looks like it was well cared for too. Enjoyed your initial posting and learning, on the forum, about the value and great price that you found it for!
Thank you, Nancy. I wasn't planning on purchasing a desk, but once I stumbled on this, I couldn't resist!
I've learned so much about furniture on this forum, it's incredible.
Pre-owned furniture doesn't bring much at resale time, so if you are patient, and know what you want, you can get some incredible bargains, such at this Kittinger Desk and the Karges Loveseat you bought earlier. Truly, you have some world-class pieces at La-Z-Boy prices. The key is to learn what's good, and what's junk. You can never go wrong buying high-quality as long as the pieces are not 'used-up'.

I agree that patience is the key. I'm not that worried about resale value, since I'm buying it more for its quality, durability and aesthetic beauty, to keep for the long haul. But I would still be more hesitant to purchase if it weren't for the guidance of you and other people on this site.
I took a nap this afternoon on my Kindel love seat, and wow--who knew? Comfort-wise, it beats the Rowe sofa in the living room, hands down. Next year, maybe a new sofa?
I just wanted to add that at one time Kittinger was considered the finest factory produced furniture in the country. You have a real steal.
Thanks so much, Jeff. Every positive response makes me just that much more content with my decision.
