You all probably will not know me but I am a regular lurker on the GW forums (decorating & furniture).
My background: We moved into a new home 2 years ago and made the decision that we would slowly furnish our house with quality items rather than doing it all at once with (affordable) junk. It's a slow crawl to the finish line but I have no regrets with any of the high-quality items that we have purchased.

Sarah, i completely agree with you regarding your approach to quality furniture purchases. My husband and i purchased our home about four years ago, and there's so much empty space and so many bare walls, i still have the occasional visitor ask if we've just moved in. But it's worth it to save and savor as things evolve over time.
Occasionally, i really envy the people who can "build a room" in one swell foop. Or for that matter, have a landscaper come in and practically prestidigitate a seemingly mature landscape. For me, it's one-tree-at-a-time, one-chair-at-a-time. And i wouldn't have it any other way.
