This is being broadcast onto the Washington Monument on the Mall all this week, last night I went to go see it and was not disappointed. The Smithsonian has a number of events and activities to celebrate this great event that happened 50 years ago (I remember watching it on TV when I was 14 years old). We had to walk in 2 miles to get to the area, and it was really hot out, but it was well worth it (as was the cold beer afterwards at a pub on Pennsylvania Ave). It will be there two more nights (today and tomorrow) if you want to go see it. 9:30 p.m to 11:30 p.m. Saturday is the really big day for the event though, too bad I have to work at the store or I'd be down there in the afternoon.
And this short video I took showing the vapors coming off the Saturn 5, you would swear this was real but it was part of the image.

And if you are interested in the history, this is an excellent presentation on PBS that will leave you spellbound.

For a minute there I thought you said you had the beer in the pub when you were 14. I thought to myself 'just different times back then'.
