I found this chair in an attic of a family member's business. He didn't know anything about it. Been doing some research online and here is what I think it may be. Possibly a dining chair. Queen Anne style. It is hand made and has no screws or tags/identifications of any kind. Spring seat with some kind of hair fill. Probably re-upholstered after 1930 because the fabric is nylon/synthetic. The writing on the bottom of the seat burlap (inside the seat) has writing and I can make out (GRANULAR SUGAR 100LBS). There are straight saw marks on the chair in places again suggesting pre 1880
The design/style/craftsmanship of the wood suggests that it was made in the 18th century but I read that the spring seat wasn't invented until 1830. Could it be that it was converted when re-upholstered? Did people ever do that type of thing? Please give me your expert advise to help me identify/date this chair.
