We have a need for an executive chair for a larger individual. The problem is the gas strut fails in fairly short order (within a yr of use) and the chair seat begins to slowly sink when sitting in the chair. Is there a recommendation on an executive chair that swivels and has the ability to raise and lower the seat height but that can fully support 300-400lbs without failing?

I don't think there is. That's pretty common. You'll have to go to a chair with a screw jack and one that is not on a gas strut. Appx half the H&M Executive chairs are screw jacks, so there is a pretty good selection.
I'm on my 3rd gas strut on my office chair at work.

Thanks. Are the screw jacks labeled "swivel tilt", and the gas struts labeled "pneumatics"? I wasn't sure anyone made screw-based chairs anymore.
In H&M world, the pneumatic strut chairs have a suffix of -PL
You can see in the photos, too. All the strut chairs have a lever.
