I've heard a lot to that effect, but is it true or just a side effect of people not properly caring for their leather?

That is indeed beautiful. Which leather is that?
That is Angelo Creme, GR 2 with the premium Belgian Chocolate finish, which makes a huge difference and is well worth the surcharge on a piece like this.

I have seen the dye from blue jeans completely ruin a beautiful white leather sofa.
I hadn't thought about that - admittedly, ruining a piece of furniture within 6 months of purchase just because I carelessly happened to sit on it while wearing a new pair of jeans is actually rather terrifying...
Just make sure you blue jeans are not damp from water or perspiration, and I would also use Leather Solutions Protectant on a creme or white leather, just to give you a fighting chance on it all.

Yes definitely want to be careful when wearing jeans on a leather sofa, I know that from experience!
